Join us at KZN's Premier Triathlon event, The Midlands Ultra Triathlon presented by the Sunday Tribune. This exciting and prestigious race takes place on Sunday the 6th March 2011 and is staged at the beautiful setting of Midmar Dam, in the Natal Midlands.

B-Active Sports is pleased to announce that the Sunday Tribune newspaper has signed up as the Presenting Partner of the 2011 Midlands Ultra Triathlon. This exciting sponsorship will give the event immense media coverage and each competitor will get their name printed in 180 000 copies in the results page. The 2011 Midlands Ultra Triathlon has been extended to a Half Ironman distance race giving competitors the extra distance and achievement they are looking for. 2011 will also see the event becoming South Africa's Long Course Triathlon Championships, which will attract the top athletes from around the country to KZN's shores. With the event firmly established and going into its 5th year, this much-anticipated event is set perfectly in the triathlon calendar to give SA athletes the perfect race. The Midlands Ultra is the last ultra triathlon before the 2011 Ironman SA event, giving the athletes a perfect 6 week taper period.

Event organisers, B-Active Sports are excited to announce that they have extended the Swim and Bike cut off to 5hrs 10min. (12:30pm) This will give athletes 1hr to finish the 1.9km Dam swim and 4hrs 10min to finish the 90km Cycle leg. There are two events to be staged on the day, the Ultra Distance Triathlon, which consists of a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and a 21km Run. Then there is the sprint distance event, which consists of a 600m swim, 22.5km Cycle and a 5km Run. All levels of athletes will enjoy this unique race set in a spectacular and relaxing environment. A broad range of categories are open to cater for top athletes, from weekend warriors and relay teams to the professionals. Teams can enter in either 2 man or 3 man teams for either the sprint of Ultra Race. With a healthy prize purse of R35 000 all of SA's top triathletes will be battling it out for overall line honors. Families are invited to come and watch the event unfold, with activities for the kids and food and drinks available.
