The unique series has proved that there is a need for fun family days that aren't out there to test your fitness, but rather to give you an exciting, fun, outdoor experience. We encourage any 2-person team with a sense of adventure to book the dates and prepare for an epic adventure!

The Muddy Buddy concept brings in the novel idea of an African Adventure mountain bike race and a unique trail run combined into one formidable yet rewarding competition with a twist. The unique concept of the event is that all the disciplines must be completed while in 2 person teams. This encourages team work, team building and sharing of great South African memories! However remember that twist....... well let's not forget there is a formidable obstacle course and the MONSTER Mud Pit which YOU will have to navigate and over-come before the coveted finish line.

The main component of each event is not to produce winners, but for YOU the competitors to have as much fun as possible. There will be prizes for the 1st place Teams only; however there will be loads and loads of prizes for the best dressed teams and the teams who have had the biggest wipe outs on the day!

Your team of 2 will start with a off-road trail run, once you have both finished the trail run you both head off to do the exciting MTB course. Once the MTB is complete you and your buddy then head back into the transition area and steady yourself for the last phase of your adventure... the mud pit and the obstacle course.... remember, both you and your buddy have to stay within 10m of each other throughout the race.

It is here that you and your Buddies strengths, wits and intelligence come into play! Only 100m from the finish you will need to conquer the formidable obstacle course, once completed, you only have the famed Monster Mud Pit tackle. Your Team needs to overcome these challenges and make their way to the finish line in order to qualify for a coveted Muddy Buddy Medal!

The first event held at Giba Gorge attracted over 350 competitors all excited and ready to take on the exciting trails, massive obstacle course and monster mud pit. Numbers had to be capped to 175 teams, however the organisers have extended the entries to 400 teams for the following 2 events in the Series.

Each finisher will receive a unique "Wilbur the Warthog" medal for each competitor once they cross the finish line, as well as an ice cold Energade. At the end of the series there will be a mountain bike up for grabs in a lucky draw, courtesy of Cyclelab. To qualify for this prize, a team needs to have entered at least 2 events in the series. There will also be loads of other prizes from Cyclelab, Endura Clothing, Suunto, Moffatt Optical and Transition Optical.
