Sardines cancel Durban Triathlon
The late Sardine run has forced the organisers to cancel the Triathlon component of this weekend's Compendium / Suncoast Multisport series. On advice from the Natal Sharks Board, the swim component of the event has been cancelled to due safety requirements.

It is extremely disappointing, says B-Active Sports race director Damian Bradley however we are lucky in that it is only the second time in the 10 year history of the multisport series that the swim component has been cancelled.

Bradley said that there will still be the two duathlon events being staged from the Suncoast Sundeck. The Rookie and Pro/Am duathlon events (Run / Cycle / Run) will take place as usual, with the athletes making use of the new running route, which heads along Durban's fantastic new promenade towards South Beach.

Athletes who have entered the Triathlon event will automatically be moved over to the Duathlon event. Competitors entered into the triathlon event, will not be refunded due to the situation being beyond our control, however the prize money will be increased for the Duathlon events, with the top 6 Pro/Am athletes now claiming prize money. There will also be loads of lucky draw prizes and Team prizes for competitors. Pre entries have closed, however athletes who wish to do a late entry can do so at registration, which is at Troisport Triathlon Shop on Friday 27th August between 3pm and 5pm. Registration will also be open on the Suncoast Sundeck from 5:30am until 6:30am on Sunday.
